The Final Step: A New Bar!

The final piece of the basement remodel is the bar. We decided to build our own, because the size we wanted would be difficult to find and afford. Karen, our woodworking friend, offered her assistance (and her shop) and recommend that we build an actual cabinet, just like the ones you have in your kitchen....assuming you have cabinets in your kitchen....or for that matter, a kitchen.

Here we see Don and Karen discussing the proper cutting technique to ensure minimal tear out of the laminate sheeting of the oak cabinet-quality plywood.

Don the dido-ing machine...

Tony and Don finishing up a cabinet side. Note the Jeremy Maclin gloves....

And the final product....kinda. This is the interior of one cabinet. We're building two that we'll mate into one. This piece still needs it's face frame and doors. Plus a little stain and varnish.

Both interiors are done; time for the face frames!
